What we publish, how it's checked, and what the labels on each page mean.

What each guide must have

How we label evidence

Every article says whether it’s researched or hands-on. All current guides are researched: they rely on documents, and nobody at ChillShelf has tested the products. If that changes for a product, the page will say what was tested and how.

Manufacturer figures are claims, not measurements. Where we do arithmetic, such as adding clearances or estimating running costs, we label it and state our assumptions. Where a manufacturer’s documents disagree, we describe the conflict instead of quietly picking one.

How AI is used

Current articles are drafted with an AI model, which also checks each figure against the linked source. Each article records that in its status line.

Each article also says whether a person has reviewed it. We name someone as an author or reviewer only if they actually did that work.

How products are chosen

We choose products on fit and evidence. Commission rates are not a ranking signal, and we don’t publish a “best” list where the evidence can’t support one. We don’t use star ratings or scores that we can’t back up.

Corrections and updates

An article’s updated date changes only when its content substantively changes. Prices are shown only with the date we checked them, and we hide them once that check is more than 14 days old.

Images

Photos on this site are AI-generated illustrations of generic appliances. Diagrams are our own, and any figures in them come from the sources on the same page. If we show a named model, we use an accurately identified image we have permission to use.
